Oct 16, 2018

The Salvation Army is pleased to announce that Ana Lopez Shalla has recently been appointed to the Omaha Advisory Board, which supports the work of The Salvation Army in Omaha by providing mission-based leadership and strategic guidance.

Lopez Shalla serves as program coordinator for the Omaha-based Avenue Scholars, where she ensures alignment between various program components and manages continuous improvement efforts. The mission of Avenue Scholars Foundation is to ensure careers for committed students through education, training and supportive relationships.

Lopez Shalla earned her undergraduate degree in English and theology from Boston College where she graduated cum laude in 2012. She went on to earn her master’s in education with a concentration in learning and teaching from Harvard University in 2016.

“I enjoy working to make organizations as impactful as possible,” she said.

Prior to joining Avenue Scholars, Lopez Shalla served as the program manager within Northeastern University’s internal incubator, New Ventures, where she served as the lead of Level Education’s academic and program management team. Lopez Shalla guided and supported the development, daily operations and continuous improvement of 10 geographically distributed technology “boot camps.”

Lopez Shalla is a member of the United Way of the Midlands Community Investment Review Committee and the Nebraska Humane Society Foster Program. She currently serves on the Boston College Public Service Council and is a Harvard University Admissions Ambassador.
