News Release: Big Red Kettle Celebration Set for Nov. 16 in Bellevue
The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center will put on the Bellevue Big Red Kettle Celebration to kick off the giving season in Sarpy County Friday, Nov. 16, at Marathon Ventures, 901 Fort Crook Road North in Bellevue.
The family-friendly event starts at 5:30 p.m and will feature live music including Christmas caroling, photo opportunities with reindeer and a sleigh, local sports team mascots, a live remote from Star 104.5 FM and complimentary food from Chick-fil-A. Fireworks by Bellino will cap off the evening around 7:15 p.m.
This event follows the Tree of Lights kickoff events that were held earlier this month in Omaha and Council Bluffs to mark the beginning of The Salvation Army’s holiday fundraising campaign. As part of the campaign, Salvation Army red kettles are placed at 140 locations around the Omaha metro Nov. 9 through Dec. 24.
Marathon Ventures, the Greater Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Bellino Fireworks and Chick-fil-A are joining the Omaha Kroc Center as sponsors of the Bellevue Big Red Kettle Celebration.
About The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign
The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign is a fundraising initiative for The Salvation Army’s Human Needs Fund, which supports programs that meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in the metro year-round. Our seven areas of service include food, housing, youth development, material assistance, behavioral health, older adult services and anti-human trafficking. The 2018 fundraising goal for The Salvation Army of Omaha is $2.85 million. Every cent of every dollar raised for the Tree of Lights Campaign stays in the metro. Whether you give to the red kettles or offer your time as a volunteer, your support helps in The Salvation Army’s effort to fight for good.
