Donate Backpacks and School Supplies TOMORROW to Help Kids Start the School Year Strong

Aug 2, 2022

With the cost of nearly everything rising right now, many families around the metro will struggle to afford new school supplies for their kids this year. You can help close the gap for families in need by participating in The Salvation Army 7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Program’s live Giving Wednesday event tomorrow, Wednesday, August 3, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Methodist Women’s Hospital – 192nd and Dodge.

Drop off donations of new backpacks and school supplies, which will then be distributed to kids in need around the metro before the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Or, if you don’t have time to shop, donate online at salarmybacktoschool.org.

Supplies needed include backpacks, rulers, spiral notebooks, erasers, glue and glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils, construction and theme paper, 2-pocket folders, pens, pencils, reusable water bottles, hand sanitizer and tissues.

Special interviews with community leaders and representatives from Methodist Women’s Hospital, Metro Credit Union, Cubby’s and other Backpack Drive partners will take place live at Methodist Women’s Hospital and will be broadcast throughout KETV’s morning, daytime and evening programs.

Since 1998, more than 220,000 children have received the tools they needed to start the school year off right. This year will be no exception, thanks to KETV and The Salvation Army’s many community partners and the hundreds of generous donors who participate in the drive.

Once you’ve made your donation, don’t forget to tune into KETV Channel 7, the KETV app or KETV.com for continuing coverage of The Salvation Army 7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Program Live Giving Wednesday Event.
