The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of December 25

Dec 21, 2023

Our savior, born in a manger, came into this world to save His people; let’s rejoice, remember, and seek His presence in our daily lives.

As we prepare to celebrate Jesus’s birth this week, let’s rejoice in His name and His everlasting love for us.

What does it mean to glory in the name of the Lord?  It is a powerful call to recognize and honor the greatness, holiness, and majesty of God.  Our God is worthy of all praise—and in acknowledging His holy name, we are reminded of His attributes.

God sent His son because of His love for us.  He didn’t have to do that, and we don’t deserve His sacrifice.  As believers, we are called to magnify and exalt the name of the Lord in our lives.  We need to not only recognize His greatness but also live in a way that brings glory to His name.  Our actions and attitudes should reflect the holiness of the Lord.

In the second part of this verse, it says, “let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.”  We find our joy in the one true king by pursuing a relationship with Him.  It is an intentional and wholehearted effort to know Him more deeply and to align our lives with His will.

Celebrating Christmas is a reminder that God sent His son for our salvation, delivering us from the power of sin and death.  As we seek Him, we position ourselves to experience His presence and receive the fullness of joy that comes from being in communion with Him.

Let’s rejoice in the birth of the Savior and glorify His name!
