The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of June 12

Jun 8, 2023

Continue to do good and be faithful, even if the season of life you’re in right now seems dry.

In Galatians 6, Paul writes to the people of Galatia, urging them to “bear one another’s burdens.” In the beginning of the chapter, we as Christians are asked to keep those around us accountable, while also making sure we are staying away from temptation.

This task includes supporting the leaders of the Church. Just as it is important for our leaders to serve us as the body of Christ, we, too, are asked to serve and aid them so they can deliver the word of Jesus to the best of their ability.

Along with serving our church leaders, Paul tells us in verse nine to “not grow weary of doing good.” This is directed at both leaders and members of the church.

Galatians 6:9 is still relevant today. Sometimes when we are not rewarded for our good and faithful deeds, we start to question God’s goodness, but Paul warns us not to doubt God.

In the second part of the verse he says, “for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Paul encourages us to not give up when we are weary—because one day we will reap the benefits of serving in the Lord’s kingdom.

Whether you are a church leader or not, don’t lose sight of God’s promise to His people, and live each day with grace and kindness.
