Programs for Adults

Poverty can impact every facet of life.

Our adult programming focuses not only on physical needs but also the emotional, social and spiritual aspects of well-being, too.

How We Partner with Adults

Food, fellowship, good health and physical exercise are the cornerstones of our adult programming. The Omaha North Worship & Service Center is a welcoming place where adults of all ages gather to enjoy nutritious meals, engaging activities and encouraging connection.

Community Care Kitchen Lunch program
We provide approximately 100-150 hot, nutritious lunches each weekday from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. to low-income and homeless individuals and families. This is the only daytime meal program in northeast Omaha, and for many in our community, this is their only substantial meal each day. Our warm, inviting environment also offers adults a welcome respite from their daily challenges, as well as an opportunity to connect and socialize with others.

Computer Lab
Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, adults can drop in to check email, research job opportunities, or work on their resume or online job application free of charge at any of the computers available in our lab. Employment classes will be offered in the near future.

Physical Fitness Opportunities
Exercise is an effective antidote to stress, which is why we offer a number of physical activities especially for adults, including:

  • Sal's Adult Basketball League - call our sports and recreation director at 402-451-4048 for more information
  • Open Gym - Saturdays, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Open Weight Room - Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Monthly Health Clinic (4th Thursday of every month; 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
Our free health clinic is staffed by a doctor and nurses and offers blood pressure and diabetes screenings, Covid immunizations and flu shots and other basic medical services, as well as information and resources about health insurance and social services.

Emergency Community Services
For those struggling to survive on the street, a hot shower, food and access to technology can make all the difference. That’s why we offer free showers and personal hygiene supplies, an emergency food pantry, clothing, a safe place to warm up in the winter and cool off in the summer and access to our free computer lab (see above for hours) for anyone in need.

Sweet Threads Closet
We offer new and gently used adult and children's clothing and coats and personal care supplies for those who can't afford to purchase them. Families and individuals are welcome to browse our closet and select what they or their children need.

Pathway of Hope
The goal of Pathway of Hope is to guide families with children 18 years and younger through crisis and instability to a place of security in order to ultimately break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. The program offers a strengths-based casework approach and provides services including financial counseling and planning, job training and referrals, assistance with housing, and spiritual support. Pathway of Hope works with Omaha and Council Bluffs families where they are, helping lay out a practical plan to meet achievable goals. For more information, call 402-898-5947.

Men's and Women's Ministries
Fellowship is an important part of spiritual health, which is why we offer the opportunity for men and women to come together weekly to connect with one another and study God's Word together.

  • Bible Study - Thursdays, 6 p.m. (for adults and kids)
  • Men's Club - Thursdays, 6 p.m.
  • Women's Ministry - Thursdays, 7 p.m.
