12 Hours of Salvation Toy Drive

12 Hours of Salvation Toy Drive Image

The 12 Hours of Salvation Toy Drive will be a little different this year, but the cause is the same and more important than ever: ensuring EVERY child in the Stateline area has a gift to open come Christmas Day with The Salvation Army of Winnebago County, Q98.5, and 13WREX.

On average, The Salvation Army serves around 3,000 families. With the COVID-19 shutdown impacting so many in the area they currently have over 16,000 families relying on their services to get by.

YOU can make a difference for these families in need with your donation dollars in our Virtual Red Kettle or with a gift of a new, unwrapped toy.

Shop & Drop at Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall or have it Shop & Ship to the Auto Mall (address below), anytime between now and December 4.

Virtual Version of Toy Drive = Angel Tree

For those of you familiar with our annual Toy Shop, this Virtual Angel Tree is a safe alternative that limits exposure to each other, while still supporting those in need this season. Our Virtual Angel Tree is an easy way to shop for Christmas while spreading joy and cheer to your neighbors in need.

  1. Visit the 12 Hours of Salvation Virtual Angel Tree and select "Create an account!"
  2. Register with your information. (Don't worry, your email will not be shared with any outside agencies.)
  3. You will receive an email from noreply@theangelgivingtree.org. Check spam/junk folder if you do not see it within a few minutes, as sometimes goes there. Follow the directions in the email and click on the link to see Angels available.
  4. Click on the gold or silver tags on the Virtual Angel Tree to select an Angel, or search using the menu on the left side of the screen by age, gender, or toy.
  5. Select "Add to Wish List" - this list is the Angel(s) you want to shop for this Christmas!
  6. If you are ready to start shopping, "Check Out" and select "Reserve Angels."
    - OR -
If you would like to add more Angels to your list, click "Select Additional Angels."
NOTE: please be absolutely sure that you want the Angel *before* you click "Reserve Angels" as there is no confirmation screen, and you cannot go back.
  7. Select "Email Angel Gift Tags" to send them in an email to yourself to print or save the Angel Tree gift tag.
  8. Go shopping for your Angel! Visit a local store or shop online. Please limit your budget to $35 maximum on each child. Gift guides are provided, but it is not expected that you purchase all items.
  9. Shop & Drop unwrapped present(s) with Angel Tree Gift Tag(s) attached to the Auto Mall....
    - OR -
Shop & Ship to the Auto Mall (address below), any time between now and Dec. 4th. If shipping, please include "Angel Code" (found on your emailed Angel Tree Gift Tag) in the shipping information before checkout.

For more information about supporting our 24th annual Toy Drive through our Virtual Angel Tree program, contact Tracy Beyer at 815-332-3000 ext. 2143.

Every bit counts as we aim to bring in more toys than ever before!
Your donation is sure to put a smile on a child's face that otherwise might not have a gift to unwrap this Holiday season.

This year the Lou Bachrodt Toy Shop will offer drive-thru toy drop off and friends that would like to see the toy collection under the huge tree will be welcome with masks in a socially distant manner. Know that we will be disinfecting all day and volunteers will be wearing both masks and gloves to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
