Partners in Doing the Most Good

The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope
to countless people throughout the nation.
But it never does it alone.

Volunteering is a great way to help others, meet new friends, gain experience, and strengthen our community.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Salvation Army of Rockford, which serves Winnebago County, Illinois, and surrounding communities. 

Volunteers are valuable assets in The Salvation Army's efforts to meet the changing needs of our world. Through the skills and experience, they bring to The Army, volunteers make significant contributions to society by positively impacting the lives of those they assist. The Salvation Army volunteers change lives, uplift families, and support communities throughout our nation every day.

Volunteer at our Christmas Headquarters
Help brighten the holidays for families this season by volunteering at our Christmas Headquarters! Volunteers are needed December 12–14 for a variety of tasks, including assisting families in choosing gifts, stocking our "Toy Store," and loading Christmas toys and food boxes into cars. Different shifts are available. Call 815-972-1135 for more information or email Shan Johnson.

Register to Ring
The funds you raise as a Salvation Army bell ringer will make a year-round impact in our community through social services assistance, children’s programs, rehabilitation services, disaster relief, and more. 

Register to Ring today. When you volunteer to ring bells, you help improve and even save lives. By volunteering even just two hours of your time, you can raise enough money to feed a family of four for an entire week.

Simply sign up for a date, time, and location that’s convenient for you. A kettle and bell will be at your location when you arrive. If there is already a ringer there, just let them know you are the next scheduled volunteer and take over for them. Then, start ringing with a smile. Wish shoppers a “Merry Christmas” and thank people for their donations.

Food Pantry
Assistants are also needed at our local pantry. Anyone who is interested in volunteering must register by completing an online volunteer application. For more information, call 815-972-1135.
