Farewell and New Beginnings
For the past four years, it has been our joy and honor to serve the Rockford community. From the beginning, you welcomed us with open arms and open hearts, and Rockford quickly became home. The friendships we've made and the lives we've shared here will stay with us forever.
We want to share with you that we have received new appointments. We will be transitioning to serve in Wichita, Kansas, with the South Central Area Command at the end of June. This news is bittersweet—we are excited to continue serving in a new capacity, but it is difficult to say goodbye to a community that has meant so much to us.
In addition, Majors Sanhty & Jean Thammavongsa, who have faithfully served at Rockford Tabernacle, have also received new appointments and will be heading to Warsaw, Indiana.
We are confident that the Rockford community will continue to thrive under new leadership. Captains Alejandro and Carolina Yanez, formerly of the Kroc Center in Omaha, Nebraska, will be stepping into our roles. Captain Natalie G. Austin will also be joining the team as Winnebago County Mission Integration Officer. We know you will welcome them with the same warmth and support you’ve shown us.
As we prepare for this next chapter, please know that our prayers will continue for Winnebago County, its people, and the mission of The Salvation Army here.
We are proud of what has been accomplished together over these past four years, and we are confident that even greater things are ahead.
With deep gratitude and love,
Majors Monty & Angela Wandling
