Koats for Kids 2025 – Keeping Children Warm This Winter

Sep 17, 2025

The Salvation Army Winnebago County is launching the 2025 Koats for Kids Program with hope and momentum. Thanks to a generous donation and sponsorship from GreenState Credit Union, more than 400 local children will be wrapped in the warmth of a new winter coat this season. The need could not be more urgent — 1 in 5 Rockford residents live in poverty, including 22% of children. For many families, a warm coat is not just comfort, but a necessity they cannot afford.

As the weather turns colder, The Salvation Army of Winnebago County is asking the community to step in once again. We’re collecting NEW children’s coats, snow boots, snow pants, hats, scarves, and gloves to ensure kids in our area stay safe and warm this winter. Every donation helps protect a child who might otherwise face the season unprepared.
