Poverty impacts the most vulnerable. 21% of US children and 4.6 million seniors live in poverty.

The Salvation Army works through our Winnebago Social Services Center to lift up our struggling neighbors.

The following services are available at The Salvation Army Social Services Center at 416 S. Madison Street in Rockford, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Please call 815.972.1135 to make an appointment.

Homelessness Prevention & Emergency Assistance Programs

The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance to help with mortgage/rent, utility bills, clothing, medication bills, and other needs in order to keep families in their homes. For more information, please call 815.972.1135.

Pathway of Hope

A comprehensive case management system to help families identify barriers to self-sufficiency (unemployment, insecure housing, lack of job skills, lack of childcare, etc), Pathway of Hope also provides guidance on how to address these barriers, and connects families with community support organizations, and more.

Mobile Feeding & Homeless Outreach

The Salvation Army Friday Night Patrol provides food and hygiene products to those who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless in our community. Distributions are every Friday night at the Winnebago County Jail and the Crusader Clinic. To volunteer or drop off donations, please call 815.962.7207.

Food Pantry

The Salvation Army Social Services Center's food pantry provides shelf-stable pantry items, breads, cereals, meat and other household necessities. The pantry is open Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information, please call 815.972.1135.

Making Christmas Bright with Holiday Meals, Coat Drives, Adopt-a-Family & Angel Tree

The holidays are tough for families who can't afford a meal or gifts during Christmas. With the help of donors who adopt children or entire families, The Salvation Army provides Christmas dinners and gifts for families in need.
