Basic Needs: Serving Our Community Image

Basic Needs: Serving Our Community

About

At The Salvation Army in Sawyer County, we believe in meeting the basic needs of individuals and families, young and old. These basic needs include:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Shelter
  • Household needs

While meeting the physical needs, The Salvation Army staff also offers hope and guidance to those coming in for services.

Basic need services are available Monday through Friday by appointment. Individuals or families meet with a staff person in a quiet, confidential setting and determine what type and how much assistance can be provided.

Funds raised during November and December stay in our community to assist with emergencies like the ones listed below:

  • Utility disconnects
  • Rent when eviction notices are received
  • Motel rooms when emergencies arise such as a house fire or to assist a stranded motorist due to inclement weather
  • Restaurant meals when staying in motels
  • Medical prescriptions
  • Co-pays on medical prescriptions
  • Gasoline for vehicles to travel to work
  • Auto repairs
