‘Pop-Up’ food collections at Cub, Mystic Lake, Slumberland, Target Center
This month, the Star Tribune will host pop-up food collections across the Twin Cities to support The Salvation Army’s March Food Drive. The collections will be held on various dates at local Cub and Slumberland Furniture locations, Mystic Lake Casino, and Target Center.
Please support the food drive by bringing nonperishable foods to these pop-up food collections:
- Saturday, March 4: Cub grocery store, 8150 Wedgewood Ln. N., Maple Grove, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Appearance by Staci from KS95 94.5 FM.
- Wednesday, March 15: Target Center, 600 N. 1st Ave., Minneapolis, 5:30–7:30 p.m., before Minnesota Timberwolves game.
- Saturday, March 25: Mystic Lake Casino, 2400 Mystic Lake Blvd. NW, Prior Lake, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Saturday, March 25: Slumberland Furniture, 7801 Xerxes Ave. S., Bloomington, 1–3 p.m.
Your donations will support The Salvation Army’s March Food Drive, which aims to raise 2 million pounds of food and cash equivalent to replenish our food supplies.
This drive is more important than ever, as everyday people like George from St. Paul struggle to afford food prices that have surged more than 11 percent – the highest rate since 1979. In addition, many Minnesotans are in danger of falling off a “hunger cliff” due to food-stamp benefits being slashed in 32 states across the country in March.
The Salvation Army is on the frontlines of this crisis, operating 22 food shelves and 13 hot meal programs in Minnesota. Collecting 2 million pounds of food would create about 1.2 million meals for our programs – roughly half the meals we distribute annually. Donate now.
