Chicago Wolves Hockey Team to Host Salvation Army Red Kettle Game
The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division and the Chicago Wolves hockey team have partnered to make Christmas bright for families in need throughout Chicagoland. The Salvation Army is most visible during the Christmas season as thousands of bell ringers collect donations in the iconic red kettles.
Volunteer bell ringers are essential to the success of the annual campaign, and now the Chicago Wolves are “sweetening the kettle.”
Individuals who register to be bell ringers through December 2nd will be entered to win two tickets and a chance to be an honorary captain at the Chicago Wolves Red Kettle Game (Chicago Wolves vs. Tucson Roadrunners) on Saturday, December 15th!*
The Red Kettle Game will prominently feature The Salvation Army with red kettles at the entrances, live performances by The Salvation Army Red Shield Band and choir, and a ceremonial puck drop. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in the “chuck the puck” contest, with a Salvation Army twist. The foam pucks will become large foam gold coins and tossed into a red kettle in center ice. For decades secret Salvation Army supporters have been dropping gold coins and other precious items in the red kettles throughout the Chicagoland area as donations. These special gifts add excitement and cheer, not only for The Salvation Army, but for the community when it is reported in the news. Gold coins can range in value from $75 to a few thousand dollars!
If you'd rather buy tickets to the Red Kettle Game, visit Ticketmaster and use the code REDKETTLE when you purchase. The Chicago Wolves will donate $5 from every ticket purchased to The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army will also participate in two additional Wolves games in 2019 - a Faith and Fellowship game and a Grandparents game. Check back with us for more details on those events next year.
It's simple to become a volunteer bell ringer – just visit RegistertoRing.com to select a day, time and location that works for you. Volunteer bell ringers raise an average of $30 per hour for Salvation Army programs: the equivalent to two bags of groceries or an evening of shelter for a neighbor in need.
So, grab your coats, hats, mittens, scarves and thermos of hot chocolate and meet us at your closest red kettle. We’ll provide the bells and aprons. You provide the added cheer!
*No purchase necessary to enter or win. Begins 11/9/18 at 12:01 a.m. and ends 12/2/18 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. For official rules and prize details visit the contest page.
