Red Kettles Make Their Holiday Debut at Jewel-Osco Stores
The Salvation Army’s iconic red kettles will make their holiday debut this year on Friday, November 9 at all Jewel-Osco stores. The grocery retailer has increased its commitment to the Army’s Christmas campaign by adding an additional 11 days to the bell ringing season.
“We’re grateful Jewel-Osco has welcomed us into their stores for an additional week and a half during the season,” said Lt. Colonel Charles Smith, Salvation Army Metropolitan Divisional Commander. “Jewel-Osco is our largest partner, and their commitment to bell ringing at every store represents one third of our red kettle fundraising.”
With the additional days at 176 Jewel-Osco stores throughout Illinois, we are in great need of bell ringers. Bell ringing is an easy way to help your neighbors in need during the holiday season. Volunteer bell ringers raise an average of $30 an hour, which can provide one night of shelter for a person who is homeless, or two bags of groceries for a hungry family.
