Nestled into the woods near South Sioux City, The Salvation Army Western Plains Camp is a dream come true for kids ages 6-18, many of whom don’t often get the opportunity to experience the beauty and adventure of the great outdoors. From fishing, canoeing, swimming and hiking to arts and crafts, campfires and cozy, rustic cabins, the Western Plains Camp offers the quintessential overnight camp experience.

New for 2024: A high ropes and low ropes challenge course and zip line. In order to participate in this new fun activity, campers MUST have a completed waiver.

2024 SUMMER CAMP SIGN-UPS

Moonbeam
June 5 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MAY 24
Eligibility: Boys and girls ages 3-5 (must be potty-trained)
Pre Elementary kids can come and have their first camp experience. They will get to experience many aspects of camp including a nap in a cabin.

Junior Sports Camp
June 11-14 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MAY 30
Eligibility: Boys and girls who are entering 1st-5th grades in fall 2024
Come and learn a new sport or advance in a sport you are already familiar with. 

Senior Boys Camp (Black Hills Camp - Rapid City, South Dakota)
June 17-22 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 5
Eligibility: Boys who are entering 6th-12th grades in fall 2024; under age 18
Boys will encounter the basics of outdoor living, which includes tent camping, nature study, hiking and fun.

Senior Girls Camp 
June 17-22 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 6
Eligibility: Girls who are entering 6th-12th grades in fall 2024; under age 18
Girls will learn to work together as a team and learn important life skills that will encourage them to become a productive member of society.

The Salvation Army Outdoors Camp (TSAO)
June 25-28 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 12
Eligibility: Boys and girls ages 10-16
The Salvation Army Outdoors Camp introduces children to the great outdoors by engaging them in a wide range of activities, such as swimming, fishing, boating, climbing, archery, conservation, hiking and camping.

Music Camp (Must participate in Salvation Army music programs)
July 1-6 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 16
Eligibility: Boys and girls ages 9-17.
Vocal and Instrumental are the main classes. To play an instrument you must already have some experience and bring a brass instrument. Electives are also taught in a variety of activities including guitar, dance, art, etc.

Senior Sports Camp 
July 8-12 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 26
Eligibility: Boys and girls entering 6th-12th grades in fall 2024; under age 18
Come and learn a new sport or advance in a sport you are already familiar with.

Music Conservatory 
July 15-18 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 26
Eligibility: By invitation only
A camp for already seasoned musicians to hone their skills.

Junior Camp
July 22-25 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JULY 10
Eligibility: Boys and girls entering 1st-5th grades in fall 2024
Campers will learn how important they are in God’s Kingdom through classes and Bible Study. They will also learn and expand their creativity and sense of adventure through educational and recreational classes..

Older Adult Camp 
June 3-6 
Eligibility: Men and women ages 55+
Older adults will participate in various activities including arts & crafts, music, Bible study, and games, experience the outdoors, have the opportunity to make new friends and more.
