Summer Camp

Experience the Great Outdoors

Nestled into the woods near South Sioux City, The Salvation Army Western Plains Camp is a dream come true for kids ages 6-18, many of whom don’t often get the opportunity to experience the beauty and adventure of the great outdoors. From fishing, canoeing, swimming and hiking to arts and crafts, campfires and cozy, rustic cabins, the Western Plains Camp offers the quintessential overnight camp experience.

This is the first summer the Western Plains Camp will be fully operational, and we are excited about all the renovations that have taken place during the past year, including upgrades to the nine sleeping cabins, each of which will include new private bathrooms and air conditioning. Also in the works is construction of a new 16-unit lodge to accommodate families and other guests; a new boathouse to store canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and additional recreational equipment and construction of a nurse’s station.
