Featuring - Monty Williams, Head Coach, Phoenix Suns Basketball

The Salvation Army is proud to announce the 2022 Community Leadership Breakfast special guest and keynote speaker, Monty Williams, Head Coach of the Phoenix Suns.

The Salvation Army’s annual civic event is Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the B-29 Doc Hangar in Wichita. A buffet breakfast opens at 7:00a.m. and program beginning at 7:30 a.m.  The event includes recognition of community leaders, awarding of the annual Martha Buford Community Leadership Award and highlights of the work and mission of The Salvation Army in our region over the past year.

“Coach Williams is a leader of some of the most elite athletes on the planet, and he’s successful because of the relationships he builds within his teams,” said Major Merrill Powers, South Central Area Commander. “It’s much like the relationship The Salvation Army has with the community of Wichita, by working together we are all successful in helping our neighbors in need.”

Coach Williams has an NBA Championship Ring and is the reigning NBA Coach of the Year. He is the first ever winner of the Sager Strong Award, honored for his “courage, faith, compassion, and grace.”  He recently earned his second consecutive NBCA Coach of the Year in 2022, decided by NBA peers, and his staff earned the honor of coaching Team LeBron in the 2022 NBA All-Star game.
