Mobile Food Pantry

Bringing hope to Wichita's food deserts three days per week.

Food Insecurity

Each night in the United States, 34 million families go to bed hungry. An additional 9 million families don’t know where their next meal is coming from as they live on the verge of food insecurity.

The growing need for nutritious food items, adds to the demand for food assistance programs from social services organizations across the country, spreading resources thin and necessitating increased public support.

A healthy diet is essential for good health and overall wellness. It protects against many chronic noncommunicable diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Approximately one quarter of all residents living in Wichita do not have access to healthy foods.

How We are Helping

The Mobile Food Pantry (MFP) or Canteen increases the availability of  healthy food options and breaks down the barriers to a healthier lifestyle for those living in food deserts. Providing 60-100 individuals per month, the Mobile Food Pantry is a vital component to serving those in need. Anyone can receive food, simply by providing their name and address. A casework is also available to talk about other programs and services offered by The Salvation Army.

Mobile Food Pantry Schedule

The third week of every month, the following locations in Wichita open from 2:00-4:30PM (or until food runs out). Click here to see this months dates and times.

Get Involved

Our mobile food pantry could not operate our Mobile Food Pantry without our generous volunteers. We always need more volunteers to help load and unload food on the Canteen, drive the Canteen to and from scheduled locations, and most importantly to serve our clients. If you are interested in volunteering on your own, with your friends, family, or work or church group, please CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP AS A VOLUNTEER.
