It's a Match! Donations to Red Kettles to be Doubled this Weekend
The bells have started ringing across La Porte, but this Friday and Saturday they may ring especially loudly in celebration of a very special gift to The Salvation Army. The annual Christmas fundraising campaign will get a boost thanks to an anonymous supporter who has pledged to double donations made to Red Kettles on November 24 and 25 up to $2,000. Holiday shoppers looking for Black Friday deals will be encouraged to give a little more than they might otherwise to make an even bigger impact in the lives of their neighbors in need.
"Gifts to The Laporte Salvation Army Red Kettles on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday get doubled this year because of a long-time donor's generous matching gift," said Major Katie Pinkston of The Salvation Army of La Porte. "Every dollar you give creates twice the hope for struggling families. Your gifts will provide local families with Christmas needs like food, toys, gifts and even help local foster care children. Some of our Red Kettle stands now have a contactless giving option, too, so that shoppers can use their credit card or cell phone to give! ”
The Salvation Army of La Porte is working year-round to meet the needs of area residents with emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, and food. As inflation has made it harder for local families to make ends meet, The Salvation Army has stepped in to ensure that those who need help have someone they can turn to. Donations made to Red Kettles during the holidays make it possible for The Salvation Army to continue to meet these increased needs while providing regular programming and services to children, families, and adults in the community all year long.
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this weekend will find bell ringers at Walmart, Kroger, Kabelin's, Al's, and the U.S. Post Office. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this holiday season is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule. Volunteers are especially needed for Friday and Saturday to keep the Red Kettles out for the entire day of the $2,000 match.
Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
