How we help brighten the holidays

The Thanksgiving holiday is the precursor to Christmas. In Bay City, The Salvation Army of Bay City provides Thanksgiving dinner on the Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving to all who may be in need of a way to celebrate the day. Whether they are in need of a great turkey dinner, a warm place to fellowship or just friendly companionship – the Salvation Army of Bay City is there.

Also, The Christmas holidays are a particularly vibrant time of year at The Salvation Army of Bay City, Michigan! We begin as soon as the weather changes with coats for all who are in need of wrapping themselves or their children in warmth for the upcoming winter months.

Next on the agenda we begin taking application for Bellringing and other Christmas volunteers October 1 of each year. After some screening and training the bellringers and volunteers are ready to begin their very important work!

Volunteers ring the familiar Christmas bells, take applications for Christmas assistance, prepare angel tags for angel trees at several locations in the community, receive the gifts as they come into the Corps and help with distribution of the gifts to the families in need of a brighter Christmas. It is a very exciting time to be at The Salvation Army.

The Easter Holy Day is marked by a sunrise service, Easter breakfast, and remembrance of Jesus Christ who triumphed over death to save us. The message is one of transformation and salvation.
