How we brighten the holidays - 2024
For some, the holiday season brings with it warm and fuzzy memories and feelings, but for many, it brings up painful memories or even disappointing realities of their current struggles and life situation. Financial stresses through loss of job, decreased work hours, disabilities, debt, or inability to pay ongoing family bills are often the catalyst to huge anxieties. Many mental health issues surface during this season. We want to offer what we can to families and especially children during this hard time. With the hope of building relationships or directing them to needed services or programs. Support systems and relationships are the best ways to offer support in a crisis.

Helping Families through "Toy Town"
Toy Town provides hope and relief to families who have to make hard decisions every day. Their focus is on bills and needs, but they still want to provide a joy filled Christmas to their little ones. Toy Town, in partnership with Toys for Tots, is a toy shop held the week before Christmas that allows families to "shop" and select gifts for their children and teens AND provides a box of food for Christmas dinner. Toy Town gives families more choice and dignity throughout the process. No one likes asking for help, so our goal is to make the process smooth and encouraging to families as they navigate difficult times.
"Like many other families, my husband and I struggled to envision how we would possibly afford a tree skirt filled with beautifully wrapped gifts this Christmas for our two children. Toy town made that dream, and more, a reality. Between providing the opportunity to choose the gifts for our children OURSELVES (rather than being handed a random assortment), the kindness and patience of the volunteers, and the unexpected huge box of food we were given afterward, it was truly a Christmas blessing for our family this year. Thank you to the salvation army, volunteers, staff, and all other amazing people that made this possible for our family and so many others."

Toy Town's "Toy Shop"
Toys are Collected at over 80 collection sites across the Tri-State area (See the complete list of collection sites at the bottom of the page) As toys and gifts are collected, they are counted and sorted into categories listed below.
- Gift A - ($20+)
- Gift B - ($11 or $19)
- Stocking Stuffers - ($10 or less)
- Games
- Books
Gifts are divided into categories as girl, boy, and baby, and appropriate age ranges.
- Each child receives the following gifts as a part of Toy Town
- 1 - Gift A
- 1 - Gift B
- 3 - Stocking Stuffers
- 1 - Game (per family)
- 1 - Book
This all happens in a "toy shop" setup and decorated every year. It's a real "Santa's workshop" sort of place! Volunteer personal shoppers help each family through the different stations and help them select their gifts and items. Over 900 families made their way through the Toy Town - Toy Shop just last year.

Toy Town's "grocery store"
Presents under the tree capture the spirit of Christmas but taking care of the family's NEEDS such as food is where love and hope go above and beyond. As part of Toy Town every family receives a food box of canned goods, boxed food items, and donated food items, such as bread from Lewis Bakeries, or meat items from Perdue Farms. Taking care of the families' Christmas dinner relieves a burden for the family and ensures they are cared for over the holidays
Food donations for Toy Town are accepted in the fall and we encourage monetary donations towards the grocery boxes to allow us to leverage our increased purchasing power in acquiring food.
With over 1,000 food boxes packed and distributed last year, we rely on the support of our community to make this possible!

Teen Christmas program
Every parent of a teen knows they can quite often be hard to buy for...their specific interests and taste can vary, and often what they want can be a little pricey...
We've found a solution that works with local companies and groups to create "stockings" full of small items, snacks, and tech items any teen would enjoy. Bags are designed and made by donors and volunteers and categorized as boy, girl, or gender neutral. Each family can select the stocking that would best fit their teen and ensures the teens have a very Merry Christmas along with the kiddos. :)
If you'd like to help shop for them, but like most teens today, aren't sure where to start, we have set up an Amazon Wishlist to make it easy.
