We desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, wherever and whenever we can.

The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Our message is based on the Bible, our ministry is motivated by the love of God, and our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as we meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Every program we offer is rooted in our passion to serve God by serving the vulnerable, the needy, the poor, the hurting, the lost and helpless and the hopeless.

"I'm grateful for how God has worked everything out for us. I'm thankful to The Salvation Army."

God works in our lives so that The Salvation Army may work in yours.

How we help share God's love:

Worship Services & Sunday School
The Salvation Army offers worship services every Sunday. We also have Sunday School sessions for children and adults are usually offered before or after services.

  • Worship services are limited to 50 people at a time following CDC Guidelines, with services at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 a.m.

Bible Studies & Fellowship
Reading the Bible and discussing the lessons and applications in today's world is an important part of fellowship and drawing closer to God.

Men's, Women's and Youth Ministries
Ministry groups provide opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship. The groups plan projects, events, retreats and experiences to improve their communities and promote a closeness to God.

League of Mercy / Community Care Ministry
Loneliness is a serious problem that no medicine can cure. This is evident in hospitals, convalescent homes, long-term care facilities, correctional institutions, veteran's medical centers, and children's homes. The Salvation Army formed the Community Care Ministry (CCM) to help alleviate such suffering by connecting us with those in hospitals, nursing homes, and correctional facilities. Each month, volunteers visit Hines VA and one long-term care facility to provide needed hygiene items, prayer and fellowship. We also visit Stroger Hospital, Jesse Brown Veterans Hospital, Hines Veterans Hospital, and five long-term care facilities at Christmas and Easter.

Below is a listing of current ministries we hold at The Salvation Army Chicago Harbor Light Corps Community Center:
