Providing physical needs such as grocery, utility and gift assistance,
to emotional experiences including holiday events and traditions.
Seasonal Assistance programs exist due to the generosity of the Greater Green Bay community. It is through donations from individuals, churches, businesses and foundations that we are able to offer this assistance to individuals and families in need. The Salvation Army is deeply thankful for the many partners who help us make these programs possible and to the many volunteers who assist us in the registration and distributions for these programs.
Christmas Assistance
Families can sign up for Christmas Assistance yearly. Each child will be eligible for a book from the Give-a-Kid-a-Book campaign, 1 or 2 toys, stocking stuffers, a family game and the family will be eligible for a food basket.
Online registration for 2024 Christmas Assistance starts on November 11 at 8:00am. Registration will close on November 27 or prior to that date if we reach our 2,000 family capacity.
For those are not able to register online, in-person help day at The Corps Community Center (626 Union Ct.) will be November 19th from 4-6pm.
Link will not be active for Brown County Zip Codes until registration starts on November 11:

Food Baskets
Families registered for Christmas Assistance will receive a food basket at Christmas Distribution. The food baskets usually contain meat, pasta or potatoes, bread/rolls, canned goods and milk to make a holiday meal. Seniors are also eligible for food baskets for Christmas. If you are a senior that would like to register for a food basket only, please register online at bit.ly/SeniorFoodBox24 or call (920) 497-7053 for more information.
Adopt-a-Family
A diverse collection of local corporations and Green Bay area families choose to anonymously adopt families in need during the holidays. The Salvation Army collaborates with over 10 agencies that refer the families who will benefit from the Adopt-A-Family Program. The Salvation Army matches the adopter and the adoptee and distributes the complete Christmas package before Christmas.
Become a 2024 Adopt-a-Family Donor:
You can help make the holidays brighter by having your family, organization, or business become a donor. Here's how:
- Email us at WUM.GBAAF@usc.salvationarmy.org
- You will be sent wish lists for all family members – adults in the household too!
- Spending guidelines are up to you, but we ask that you purchase at least one item from each of the categories on the wish list (gift item, clothing, hygiene or cleaning products, household items, books/movies/games, toys and an optional gift card)
- Details of the drop off day and location will be sent to your email (expect around middle of December)
If there are additional questions, you can call our donor information line at (920)593-2369. Thank you for your interest in helping us Do the Most Good for families in our community.
Silver Bells
Seniors and disabled adults who are alone at Christmas or who may not receive gifts are referred to The Salvation Army by local agencies. The Salvation Army works with several local businesses and Bay Park Square Mall to provide Silver Bell Trees. The bells are selected by a donor who purchases the gifts. The referring agencies and The Salvation Army wrap the gifts and deliver them to the individuals in time for Christmas.
Senior Community Christmas Meal
This is a free meal, for seniors 50 and older, sponsored by Schreiber Foods. Schreiber Foods sponsors the meal and provides volunteers to help serve the meal to our older adults of Greater Green Bay. Tickets are made available at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center in November. Entertainment follows the dinner. Call 920-593-2362 for more information.
