Service Anniversary - Over a Year of COVID Response Work

Mar 18, 2021

For over a year, communities in Central Illinois and Eastern Iowa have been experiencing a greater need.

A greater need for... Food, Clothing, Shelter, Financial Security, Normalcy - A Greater Need For Hope

The Salvation Army is proud to have been a major part of meeting these needs for our communities since the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the past year, the Heartland Division has seen amazing unity from individuals like you to work together in helping others in need. Your support has empowered the local Salvation Army mission to ensure it reaches every man in need of a warm meal, every mother facing eviction from unemployment, and every child in need of Christmas joy during a year of hardships. Thank you for continuing to trust in our services and programs, and showing your support in any way possible. Your donations, volunteerism, prayers and spreading the word of The Salvation Army's work are all key to the successes we look back at today.

It has been a year since your local Salvation Army has adapted its work to be able continue serving those in need. In this adjustment, amazing stories of triumph and care have come out of the Heartland Division communities. As we found new and creative ways to meet our neighbors in need, our supporters found new ways to support our mission. Just a few of these instances:

These moments illustrate the different parts of a story that is true for all of our local communities - there is a strong will to Fight For Good! This fight grew strong in the face of COVID-19's challenges, and continues to allow The Salvation Army to serve a crucial role in meeting the local needs during ongoing health and safety concerns. Some of the ways our local staff and family are still serving:

These ongoing efforts in response to the COVID-19 impacts on our communities are life-changing, and that is what we celebrate now by reflecting on The Salvation Army's anniversary of service during a year of change. All of the successes our mission and work has seen, and continue to see, are because of you!

Thank you for helping meet those in need throughout your community. Make sure to visit your local Salvation Army website or social media to learn the latest.
