Poverty Hides in Plain Sight

Approximately 13 percent of South Dakota residents fall below the federal poverty level, which is just over $24,000 for a family of four.

Often the day-to-day struggles individuals and families face are unseen. Poverty can be isolating. Those who suffer often feel alone.
We are here to provide community, help and hope.

How we help overcome poverty

Food Programs
Hunger is one of the most crushing effects of poverty. We offer a weekday lunch program and a food pantry to help struggling individuals and families close the hunger gap. Learn more about how we help cure hunger.

Rent, Utilities and Material Assistance
No one should ever have to choose between heating their home during the frigid winter months and putting food on the table. That's why we help low-income individuals and families close the gap by helping pay rent or a utilities bill when there is a financial shortfall. We also provide clothing and household goods to people in need.

Pathway of Hope
The goal of Pathway of Hope is to guide families with children 18 years and younger through crisis and instability to a place of security in order to ultimately break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. The program offers a strengths-based casework approach and provides services including financial counseling and planning, job training and referrals, assistance with housing, and spiritual support.
