"Hungry" is no way to spend childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

"He gives food to every creature, His love endures forever" Psalm 136:25

We want to feed people spiritually and physically. The generosity of the people of Kankakee County make it possible for us to offer food all year round to anyone in need of a hot meal or some groceries. Come to The Salvation Army to fill your belly and fill your soul.

How we help cure hunger

We offer a variety of options to feed individuals and families in need. There is no reason anyone in Kankakee County should be going hungry. If you or someone you know is in need of food, send them to The Salvation Army.

Soup Kitchen
Open Monday-Friday from Noon-1:00pm, our incredible cook and supportive volunteers prepare different meals each day. Anyone is welcome, and we prefer children are accompanied by an adult. Best of all, it is absolutely FREE!

Food Pantry
Food boxes are available Monday-Friday in our Social Ministries wing. Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1pm-4pm we offer a choice pantry where you may go through the food pantry and pick what you like. This is available to individuals every 30 days.

Food Giveaway
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 1:00pm immediately following lunch, we offer a free food giveaway. Bring your own box or bags, and go through the line until the tables are empty. There are no requirements or limits to how often someone can use this service - if you are hungry and we have the food, we will give it to you.
