Did you know The Salvation Army is a church?

The Salvation Army provides spiritual services to anyone God brings across our path.

Support Our Worship

Be the hands and feet of Jesus in the places no one else will go, in the radical ways no one else dares try.

The Salvation Army was founded as a church to the unchurched. Officers vow to "love and serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ supremely all of my days, to live to win souls and make their salvation the first purpose of my life, to care for the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, love the unloved and befriend those who have no friends."

The "Big C" Church

Jesus told a story about a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One day, he noticed one was missing. And although he still had ninety-nine right there safe and sound, he risked leaving them all to go after the one that was lost. When he found it, he rejoiced and celebrated. God does the same with us. To God, one is worth as much as the rest combined. Our vision is to see the churches of Kankakee County come together as The Church - united in leading people to a real relationship with Jesus Christ. People make The Church - not the building.

How we help share God's love

Every program through The Salvation Army should point toward the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to preach that Gospel, and introduce people to its redeeming and transforming power to change lives.

Prayer
This is the most powerful and meaningful tool we have at our disposal. We pray for guidance from the Lord in all that we do to serve the community and in planning programs. We trust that God will provide the resources we need, and that He will use The Salvation Army according to His will. Whether privately, corporately, silently, liturgically - however it may be, prayer is the foundation of all we do.

Partnership
In striving to be The Church, we aim to reach people in partnership with other Christian churches and agencies in Kankakee County, setting aside denominations and serving together as fellow believers in Christ. We want to see peoples' hearts touched and changed by the love of Christ. This community is filled with incredible churches that teach the Bible as the Word of God. Whether you are led to our chapel or a chapel down the road - we just want to get you plugged in to a community of believers.

Preaching
We preach the Gospel. We preach Jesus Christ. We preach holiness. We preach the Word of God. Everyone is welcome to attend worship services in our chapel Sunday mornings at 11:00am. When you come into our doors, you have a place at the table waiting for you.
