Addictions Affect Every One.

Our programs are different from others: They are free, holistic, and help treat the root causes of addiction.

Get Help

In the U.S., an estimated 88,000 people die from alcohol-related causes annually, making it the third leading preventable cause of death.

In the past 20 years, the drug overdose rate has tripled.

At The Salvation Army, all of our residential rehabilitation centers are free. The Salvation Army has been helping those with addictions since our founding over 150 years ago. Today, we are continuing this pledge of helping people in need with recovery and holistic help. Our services encompass an emotional, spiritual and social service model that focuses on the root causes of their struggle. We understand that every persons? addiction is different, and has a devastating impact economically and emotionally on family and friends, so our programming is always free and welcome for everyone

Each year we help equip over 150,000 people to:

Midtown Service and Treatment Center

The Salvation Army is the nation’s largest provider of residential drug and alcohol abuse treatment. Using a holistic approach to treating addiction, Midtown Service and Treatment Center is a state-of-the-art, 22,500-square-foot facility in Midtown St. Louis supports The Salvation Army’s mission of creating sustainable positive change in the lives of individuals and communities.

Build work and social skills

The physical and spiritual components of the program equip members to provide for themselves and others as they set and maintain sustainable employment goals.

Regain health and stability

Drugs, alcohol, pornography and other addictions have a strangling grip that is hard to break. Our rehabilitation programs can help you break free and reclaim the hope that was once lost. The circumstances of addiction are often unthinkable, but with counseling, patience, prayer and a limitless supply of God?s love, we offer a starting point on the path to freedom from addiction.

Restore families

Many who have been rehabilitated are reunited with their families and are able to resume healthy daily routines. Kids get their parents back. People get their lives back.

Family Stores

The Salvation Army's famous Thrift and Family Stores were started more than 100 years ago as a way to raise funds and provide work for the men in our rehabilitation programs. Today, thousands of men, and now women, are in recovery and work in our stores.

Adult Rehabilitation Center

The Adult Rehabilitation Center provides work-based therapy for substance abuse and support groups using the AA model, and spiritual counseling and education for a minimum of six months. Clients live onsite and work in Salvation Army Family Stores and other areas, while participating in a full range of treatment programs.
