What is your story? How did you end up in Milwaukee?

I moved from Green Bay to Milwaukee about five years ago. I came here to attend UW-Milwaukee, ended up graduating last year. I decided to get a job around the Milwaukee area and continue living here.

What keeps you in Milwaukee/What do you like best about Milwaukee?

I love that Milwaukee is located by the lake and is closer to Chicago than Green Bay. My family is also European and I enjoy the variety of different markets that Milwaukee has. I am also very early in my career, so it's nice building my experience in a bigger city.

Favorite spot in the city?

The Estate. It's a cocktail lounge on the east side of Milwaukee. The Estate is a historic jazz club and they've been open since 1977, providing live jazz music. it's very intimate and they serve a variety of unique cocktails. Overall, it's a very good vibe.

What milwaukee festival are you eager to attend this year?

Because of being busy with school, work, and then the pandemic shutting the city down, I really haven't found a favorite festival. I'm excited this summer and fall to experience more of what Milwaukee has to offer.

What drew you to Echelon?

I followed Echelon on social media and really felt inspired by the posts. I love the work this group does and love the commitment I saw. I really wanted to be part of a community that helps, and I think Echelon is that community.

What struggles do you see our city dealing with? What can our generation do to help?

Homelessness, poverty, and the cleanliness of the city are problems that our generation can impact. Doing something as simple as donating food, and household items can make a positive impact. It would be even better if more people would volunteer at shelters, food pantries, or sign up for youth programs. I also think it's important to pick up trash and keep even our own neighborhoods clean. I wish more people realized how impactful even doing one task can be for the community.
