MEDIA ADVISORY:

Delta Dental To Fill Shelves of The Salvation Army Food Pantry

WHO: Delta Dental of Wisconsin promotes oral health.

WHAT:  Delta Dental of Wisconsin is donating $1,000 worth of fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products, in addition to 1,000 toothbrushes and a $2,000 grant so The Salvation Army food pantry can restock on nutritious perishable foods during the year.

WHEN: Volunteers will bring the food into the pantry at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 8.

WHERE: The Salvation Army's West Corps Worship and Community Center, 1645 North 25th Street, in Milwaukee.

WHY: It's National Smile Month! A balanced, nutritious diet is essential to healthy living, as well as a healthy smile. Only 7.5 percent of Wisconsinites eat the daily recommended vegetable allowance, and less than 13 percent eat the recommended fruit allowance. Delta Dental of Wisconsin understands that the cost of fresh produce inhibits people of all income levels to reach the daily recommended portions. As a result, they are providing fruits and vegetables to five food pantries over three days throughout Wisconsin to promote the importance of oral health.
