Echelon Provides 'Meaningful Makeovers' For Emergency Lodge Residents

MILWAUKEE COUNTY – Echelon Milwaukee, a community of more than 50 diverse young professionals collectively serving The Salvation Army, provided makeovers for Emergency Lodge residents this past weekend.

With the help and partnership of community volunteers, physical makeovers of haircuts and professional clothing were provided to the residents to help bolster confidence and inspire a new outlook. Additionally, employment assistance services supported residents to build connections and provide job training.

"I thought I was just getting a haircut," one resident said after her makeover. "They went above and beyond. It was really special, and I want to go back there!"

To honor the human element of their service, Echelon Milwaukee also made over the living spaces and rooms of the Emergency Lodge by beautifying the walls, updating furnishings, and replacing furniture.

"Even in times of great need, all people deserve comfort and a place of sanctuary," said Brandon Tschacher, co-president of Echelon Milwaukee.

"Meaningful Makeover" would not be possible without Echelon Milwaukee's generous sponsors: Bel Air Cantina, Crown Hardware & Plumbing Supply, Kohl's, Milwaukee Bucks, Photographers: Dan Ojeda & Stacey Nash, Revelations Two, Tailored Salon and Walmart.
