The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County Receives $2,700 Contribution from the AT&T Pioneers
Donation Will Help The Salvation Army Purchase Four New Computers at its Emergency Lodge for Children Living at the Shelter

MILWAUKEE, Friday, June 15, 2018 – The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County’s Emergency Lodge Shelter received a $2,719.48 contribution from the AT&T Pioneers today to support their Children’s Development Program.

The donation from the AT&T Pioneer’s Greater Milwaukee Life Member Club will help the Emergency Lodge Shelter purchase four new computers for the Activities Room to replace computers and equipment more than 10 years old.  The Activities Room provides after school activities and a place for children living at the shelter to do their homework and enrich their reading skills.

“We are very grateful to the AT&T Pioneers for this generous contribution for our Activities Room,” said Thomas Flatley, Administrative Manager for The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County.  “These new computers will be a great resource for children as they work on homework and other learning activities.”

Since 1979, the Emergency Lodge has provided emergency shelter to homeless individuals and families with children in Milwaukee County.  The average number of children in the shelter per day is 32.  In addition to homework help and the Activities Room, the Children’s Development Program provides clothing, diapers, baby food, school supplies, bus fares, holiday gifts and toys for children living in the shelter.

“The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County is making a real difference in the community by helping those less fortunate during their time of need,” said Lou Stahlberg, president of the Pioneers’ Greater Milwaukee Life Member Club.  “The Pioneers are proud to support the Emergency Lodge Shelter and its children’s programs.”

In addition to today’s contribution, the AT&T Pioneers have also volunteered countless hours at the shelter, raised funds for The Salvation Army’s Toys for Tots program, and donated many hours for the annual Red Kettle Count Christmas project.

The Greater Milwaukee Life Member Club of the AT&T Pioneers is a group of retired and active employees of the telecommunications industry who volunteer their personal time to helping the community.
