PRESS RELEASE:
The Salvation Army’s Annual Civic Luncheon Returns for 2023
Event To Feature Speakers Jrue and Lauren Holiday, Prestigious Awards
MILWAUKEE - The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County’s Civic Luncheon, “Love Beyond the Game,” is returning this year to honor two awardees who have given back so much to the community.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at Fiserv Forum, 1111 Vel R. Phillips Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53203.
This year, we will honor the recipients of The Salvation Army's most prestigious awards: The William Booth Award and the OTHERS Award. Honorees are recognized because they exemplify the spirit of our founder, William Booth, by putting others first. The William Booth Award will be given to Don Rosette, founder of Christmas Family Feast, and the OTHERS Award will go to Metalcraft of Mayville and the Gallun Family, who have donated a generous amount over the years.
Our keynote speakers will be the dynamic husband-and-wife team of Jrue and Lauren Holiday. Jrue Holiday is an All-Star Guard for the Milwaukee Bucks who helped lead them to an NBA Championship in 2021. Lauren Holiday is a former professional soccer player, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and FIFA Women's World Cup Champion. From their personal compassion to help those who are less fortunate, Jrue and Lauren created the JLH Fund, their non-profit charitable organization.
“We chose the Holiday's because they are leaders in the Milwaukee philanthropic community, they provide opportunities for small businesses to thrive though their own foundation, the JLH Social Impact Fund, and their connection to Fiserv Forum,” said Major Steve Woodard, General Secretary for The Salvation Army of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
The event will also feature a client testimonial and highlight the local impact of The Salvation Army in Milwaukee County. Funds raised at our signature Civic Luncheon will support the programs and services The Salvation Army offers in Milwaukee County such as emergency housing, clothing and shelter.
Tickets and sponsorships are still available and can be purchased at SAMilwaukee.org.
