"Hungry" is no way to spend childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

How we help cure hunger

Food Shelf
Our food shelves offer a wide range of groceries, allowing individuals and families in need to stretch their budgets. Food boxes may include shelf-stable pantry items, breads, cereals, meat and other household necessities. On occasion, fresh produce is also made available.

Free Noon Meal Program and Bread Distribution
This is a free, year-long meal program offered seven days a week from Noon to 1 p.m. at The Salvation Army Kitchen, 700 S. Riverfront Dr. Free bread and bakery items are also distributed during this time. This program is available to anyone in need of fellowship and a nutritious meal.

Annually thousands meals are served, most of which are the only meal people in need receive for the day.

Mobile Outreach Meals (MOMs) Program
From mid-June to mid-August, the MOMs program provides a nutritious lunch to children in Mankato neighborhoods. Our mobile kitchen stops at the American Red Cross, Eastport Apartments, Southhaven MHC, and Eastwood Manor each Monday-Friday between 10:45 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. Annually, the program provides thousands of meals. Locations and times subject to change due to participation.

Annually the program provides thousands of meals to children in need.
