Hungry is no way to live.

Everyday, The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to our neighbors in need.

How we help cure hunger

Food Shelf
Our food shelf in Rochester, MN, is the only food shelf accessible to the downtown area. Households are able to visit twice a month. It is located in our Social Services Center at 115 First Avenue NE. We serve over 500 households each year with basic food items like cereal, rice, peanut butter, meats, milk, eggs, fruit, vegetables, and baking supplies. The food shelf is open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you are interested in donating food to the food shelf, please call 507-288-3663.

Lunch Program
A free lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Social Services Center at 115 First Avenue NE. All are welcome.

Bread Pantry
Our guests are welcome to take free bread from our free bread pantry located at 115 First Avenue NE. Baked goods are collected from Hy-Vee Crossroads and Peoples' Food Coop to stock our shelf at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Help Make a Difference

Our friends at Evangel Untied Methodist Church organize an annual food collection event called Feed the Need in the Spring. This is a massive volunteer opportunity and the easiest way to donate food for our food shelf.
You can also conveniently donate online by clicking here. Monetary donations are also critically important. Please call 507-288-3663 with any questions about our food and meal programs.

The Salvation Army's Food Shelf Bridges the Gap. It's a Blessing.

When times are tough, many families will lean on The Salvation Army and its unique set of services.
