By the time they reach the 12th grade, those same kids are four years behind.
Our youth programs exist to intervene, to provide a safe, stable environment for kids to learn and grow, and to provide children with creative outlets and experiences they will cherish all their lives.
Children who live below the poverty line are 1.3 times more likely to develop mental delays or learning disabilities than those who don't live in poverty.
The Salvation Army operates youth programs in low and moderate income neighborhoods surrounding the city of Rochester. These programs provide children with a safe place to play and learn in a supervised and constructive environment. The Salvation Army will continue to make an effort in the local communities to provide these learning opportunities.
Youth Character-Building and Music Programs
The Salvation Army's weekly programming is dedicated to providing opportunities for area youth to connect with others and grow with encouragement. We have a variety of music opportunities for youth including a band, singing, guitar and puppets. Please contact Andrew Lovejoy at Andrew.Lovejoy@usc.SalvationArmy.org to enroll a child in our youth programs.
Annual Summer Camp Opportunities
The Salvation Army across Minnesota and North Dakota shares an overnight camp ground in Finlayson, MN, with lake access, a petting zoo, an archery course, and more. Every summer, children in our community have the opportunity to experience summer camp in the great outdoors through our myriad of camp opportunities. Please contact Andrew Lovejoy at Andrew.Lovejoy@usc.SalvationArmy.org for more information about camp.
