Knowledge is a ticket out of poverty

By the end of the 4th grade, African-American, Hispanic and low-income students are already two years behind grade level.

By the time they reach the 12th grade, the same kids are four years behind.

Children in poverty have greater learning challenges

Children who live below the poverty line are 1.3 times more likely to develop mental delays or learning disabilities than those who don't live in poverty

How we help empower youth

The Salvation Army operates youth programs in low and moderate income neighborhoods across the Western St. Paul area. These programs provide children with a safe place to play and learn in a supervised and constructive environment. The Salvation Army will continue to make an effort in the local communities to provide these learning opportunities.

After-School Programs
The Salvation Army community centers provide after-school programming to give youth and teens a safe place to complete homework, learn new skills and relax with their friends.

Summer Day Camp (June - August)
Our summer day camp is a great alternative to traditional child care options. Our program helps keep your child’s mind engaged over the summer through a variety of field trips and learning opportunities. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please call 651-224-4316.

King Family Childhood Development Center
Our worship center hosts the King Family Childhood Development Center - a licensed and accredited preschool age care center.
