Our Doors are always open Image

Our Doors are always open

Every year, The Salvation Army provides thousands of nights of shelter for those in need.

As long as there's a salvation army,

there's always a place to go.

From emergency lodging, to Rapid Rehousing for homeless families, to our Castleview Apartments for the chronically homeless and low-income, housing those most in need is a crucial component of our services to the Rochester community.

About 15% of all homeless people are considered "chronically homeless."

Every Night, The Salvation Army of Rochester, MN, shelters between 30 and 50 homeless individuals.

How we help provide housing

Sometimes life doesn’t turn out how we planned. Other times we get slammed with an unexpected hiccup, such as job loss or medical debt. With one in six people living in poverty today, hardship can easily lead to homelessness. The Rochester Salvation Army has transitional and permanent housing options in that can help.

Access Home (Rapid Rehousing or RRH)

Our Rapid Rehousing (RRH) program assists families that meet HUD's definition of literal homelessness in finding affordable housing, and counseling them through their rehousing transition. Families pay income-based rent. The program helps families with goals in education, parenting and budgeting with the hope of attaining permanent housing, full-time employment and a more stable family life. Households must complete a SPDAT Assessment in order to be considered for this program. Call 507-288-3663 for more information or to schedule an assessment with a Case Manger.

Permanent, Supportive Housing (Castleview)

Our Castleview Apartments are a permanent, supportive housing complex in Rochester for single adults who are low-income, chronically homeless, or disabled. The facility offers 24-hour supervision, social support services and life-skills education programs. Apartments include a bathroom, closet, kitchen and bedroom. Castleview Apartments is located at 120 N. Broadway. Individuals must complete a SPDAT Assessment in order to be considered for this program. Please call 507-288-3663 to learn more or to schedule an assessment time with a Case Manager.
