The Salvation Army To Host Volunteer Recognition Celebration

MILWAUKEE COUNTY - The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County will present recognition awards at its annual volunteer appreciation celebration next week. Instead of the typical luncheon ceremony, due to COVID-19, volunteers will be invited to The Salvation Army of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Divisional Headquarters (DHQ) to receive an award and gift.

The recognition will take place in 30 minute increments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 at DHQ, 11315 W Watertown Plank Rd., Wauwatosa.

Our army of volunteers reached more than 1,144 individuals in 2020, and gave more than 6,692 volunteer hours combined to the programs and services of The Salvation Army.

“We are extremely grateful for our wonderful volunteers,” said Nettie Perry, Director of Volunteer Services. “We could not do what we do without their support.”

Those receiving awards are as follows:

  • Vanessa Leflore, 2020 Volunteer of the Year, Citadel Corps
  • Steve Ohly, 2020 Volunteer of the Year, Emergency Lodge
  • Scott Ruesch, 2020 Volunteer of the Year, Emergency Disaster Services
  • Ruthann and Bill Johnson, 2020 Doing the Most Good
  • Wauwatosa Lion’s Club, 2020 Doing the Most Good
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2020 Doing the Most Good
