At The Salvation Army, we rely heavily on our volunteers to help us Do The Most Good all over the world. By volunteering in Owosso, you'll play a vital role in lifting up the lives of countless people in need. Whether it's providing meals to the hungry, responding to a disaster, or ringing a bell at your local grocery store, there are countless ways to generously volunteer your time to help those in need in Shiawassee county. We have year-round volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, schools, organizations and businesses.

Our opportunities

Red Kettle Bell Ringers

Every unmanned kettle represents a missed donation opportunity, so we need your help. Shifts are from Monday to Saturday and they last 2 to 4 hours. Visit registertoring.com to sign up!

Community Kitchen

We need volunteers for our community kitchen that serves meals Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Sunday Evening Dinner Church

We always need help with kitchen, cleaning, and serving at the Sunday evening meal, from 4:30pm to 7pm. 

Seasonal Holiday Help

We need help for certain events throughout the year. Please consider volunteering for our Backpack giveaway in July and August, Christmas Toy distribution in mid December, or our special holiday meals over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Please call our office and indicate you'd like to be put on a call list for special volunteer opportunities!

Ministry Volunteer Opportunities

We are regularly looking for volunteers to assistance with church leadership positions, such as leading Sunday School, Bible Study, and other groups. Consider joining our church and becoming a soldier (church member) at The Salvation Army Owosso Citadel.
