Additional Ways You Can Support The Salvation Army Serving Shiawassee County

Personal Hygiene/Household Products:

We host a personal hygiene pantry that includes items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand soap, dishwashing soap, laundry detergent, combs, hairbrushes, deodorant, diapers, cleaning supplies, and other personal hygiene and household items needed by families and individuals.  Feel free to stop by and donate these items, please make sure they are new.

Back to School Supplies:

Particularly during the months of June, July, and August we are in need of new backpacks and school supplies of various kinds to provide to children in need in the community. Normally we provide between 100-300 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children in need.

Coats for Kids/Adults:

Particularly during the months of September, October, November, and December we are in need of donations of new coats for adults and children, as well as winter hats, gloves, scarves, socks, snow pants, and other winter supplies.

Christmas Toys for Children:

Particularly during November and December we are in need of new Christmas toys for boys and girls in the following age groups: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13-17. The toys should be new and unwrapped. We can also use money donated to purchase toys as well.

Non-Perishable Food Items:

Throughout the year we can always distribute non-perishable food items to those in need. Please make sure the items are not expired and have been stored in proper conditions.

Cleaning Supplies:

We can always make use of cleaning supplies to help keep our facility clean and safe for those who visit. We are always in need of multi-purpose spray, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, kleenex, and toilet paper.

Join our Church Congregation:

One of the most powerful ways you can get involved with The Salvation Army Owosso Citadel is to join our church congregation. This is really the centerpoint of our activities. If you want to be in on the ground floor of all we do, and participate in meaningful ways, join our church, and you'll be involved in everything. Consider becoming a "soldier" in The Salvation Army, which is a church member who has made it their mission to follow Jesus and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Contact the corps officer at 989-725-7485 ext. 5105 for more information.

Pray for Us:

Prayer is very powerful and God answers prayer in our day and age. Please pray for us, and the ministry work we do. Pray for our staff. Pray for our soldiers and attenders. Pray for those who access our social services. Pray for our ministries to grow to the community. Pray for God to work mightily through us. Please keep us on your prayer list.

Volunteer your Time:

One of the ways you can help is by volunteering your time. We need volunteers to help with meals throughout the week. We need volunteers to help with our Sunday night dinner church meal 4:30pm-7pm every Sunday. We also need seasonal volunteers to help bell ring during Christmas, as well as volunteers to help with the Christmas toy shop, Back to School supply distribution, and other special events. Contact our program coordinator for more information on volunteering at 989-725-7485 ext 5101.
