Proud to be Doing The Most Good
In 2020, a homeless Veteran was searching for a warm bed and support when he stumbled upon The Salvation Army’s Safety Net program. He participated in services within the Safety Net Shelter, and the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. With the support of The Salvation Army, he focused on rebuilding his family relationships and worked on obtaining permanent housing.
Today, he is still living in his apartment. He has built a strong relationship with his landlord, and even works for the landlord part-time. He has credited The Salvation Army’s Safety Net program for his success stating that if it were not for the life skills classes he attended while in The Salvation Army’s Men’s Shelter, he would not have the skills to budget and manage his money as effectively as he has.
The cooperation and partnership between The Salvation Army, SSVF and Phoenix CDS helped to give this veteran another chance -
and it is your continued support of our mission that brings stories like this to life every day in the Peoria area communities!
National Salvation Army Week is a time for celebrating our organization's history, shining a light on how new people can join to support our mission, and thanking our local partners who make The Salvation Army's work possible. We take this week to showcase many things, but we want to celebrate how proud we are to serve in Peoria.
