Letter From a Grateful Mom: "You Made My Life Smile Again!"

Nov 10, 2020

Recently, we received a heartwarming letter from a single mother expressing thanks for assistance given after being hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. She was so thankful for how The Salvation Army Pontiac Corps Community Center helped her family with rent and food assistance, she handwrote a letter to tell us just how much she appreciated everything. We are humbled by the fact that she also said she would like the letter to be shared publicly as a testament to how we serve the community:

When this virus hit the US, it changed my life and my children’s lives. I was left with no job, no money, and no food to feed my family. I didn’t know what to do. Rent was due, and we were hungry. I started to panic and worry; I was depressed thinking about how to make ends meet. I called family members to ask for help, but nobody could help me. I had to look elsewhere because I needed help, so I called The Salvation Army Pontiac Corps Community Center. I was praying hard for someone to reach out and help my family. I even asked to work at the facility I called. Because of my situation, I was desperate.

The Salvation Army called me with the response I needed – they said they could help my family! I was so thankful to hear that they could help with food and money for my rent. I am so thankful for the rent relief. The Salvation Army has been a blessing. Thank you for working with the community and for helping my family! You made my life smile again!

Always appreciated,
Loskishia Estell
