Through our community center and social services, we equip families with the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual support they need to foster better, brighter futures.
The Salvation Army meets families wherever they are in life and help them move to a more self-sufficient and productive path.
After-School Programs
The Salvation Army provides after-school programming to give youth and teens a safe place to complete homework, learn new skills and relax with their friends. The program offers tutoring, mentoring, life skills programming in seven languages, exercise, and work in a computer lab. For more information, call 815-227-0635.
Teen Center
In partnership with the YMCA of Rock River Valley, the Teen Center at The Salvation Army Rockford Tabernacle Corps Community Center provides a safe environment for middle school and high school students to participate in intramural sports, visit with friends, and learn positive life skills. The program is offered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 7-9 p.m. For more information, call 815-227-0635.
Character-Building & Mentoring Programs
Weekly scout-style and mentoring programs are designed to support youth and teens as they navigate their world and grow into adulthood. Topics addressed can include bullying, peer pressure, making a positive impact on the community, family life, and more. Programs are offered Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
Camp
Wonderland Camp provides week-long summer camp options for youth, teens and seniors with a different theme each week. We also host day camps during school breaks and the summer, which include meals, activities, field trips and more. For more information, call 815-227-0635.
Pathway of Hope
A comprehensive case management system to help families identify barriers to self-sufficiency (unemployment, insecure housing, lack of job skills, lack of childcare, etc), Pathway of Hope also provides guidance on how to address these barriers, and connects families with community support organizations, and more.
Meals at Shelters, Facilities and Other Programs
The Salvation Army provides nutritious meals and snacks for families and individuals in need. Most after-school and camp programs also provide a healthy snack.
Homelessness Prevention & Emergency Assistance Programs
