$20,000 Kettle Challenge
With Christmas quickly approaching, The Salvation Army has a wonderful opportunity to boost its holiday fundraising efforts thanks to the support of several local supporters who are pooling their support to create a $20,000 matching gift. The anonymous donors have pledged to match dollar for dollar all donations put into Vigo County Red Kettles from Friday, December 15 through Saturday, December 23 up to $20,000.
"This year has been tough for Hoosiers and it's inspiring to see so many donors stepping up to help their neighbors in need," said Captain Jeremy Fingar, leader of The Salvation Army in Terre Haute. "I am honored to serve our community alongside such incredible people and can’t wait to see the outpouring of love and generosity from our neighbors at the Red Kettle."
The funds raised through The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas campaign help to support programs and services in Vigo County throughout the year and account for 80% of the organization’s annual budget. Those services include a food pantry, Christmas assistance, nursing home visitations, youth programs, summer camps, long-term family case management, and rent and utility assistance.
The Salvation Army of Vigo County is also seeking volunteer bell ringers to help man kettles through December 23. These volunteers are the lifeblood of the annual Red Kettle Campaign and make it possible to place kettles out during the busy holiday season. Those ready to sign up for a two-hour shift can simply visit RegisterToRing.com and choose a time and location that’s convenient for their schedule. Volunteers can also contact Captain Jeremy Fingar for more information at 812-232-4081.
