Easter: A Reflection on the Sacrifice of Christ

Apr 9, 2020

This Sunday is Easter, a day when Christians all over the world will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The death and resurrection of Jesus happened more than 2,000 years ago and is recorded in God's Word, the Bible. The Easter story is weaved throughout the New Testament. All four Gospel books - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - record Jesus' final days of life on Earth and His sacrificial death for all mankind. (Read the Easter Story as recorded in the Bible.)

The Purpose of Easter

Without the resurrection, Jesus would have been just another man who spoke God’s Word. But through the resurrection, He proved He is God’s own son who suffered and died in our place and has the power to triumph over death. Because of His great sacrifice and love for us, He offers forgiveness of our sin and restores us through grace, so we can experience an eternity in God’s presence. That’s why Christians call Him their savior.
