The Salvation Army’s trashiest event of the year is back!

On August 2, The Salvation Army Midland Division will run The Garbage Bag Gala- a Project Runway-like fashion show at the Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis, MO.

But this is no ordinary fashion show. The city’s top fashion minds and models will feature designs made almost entirely out of trash bags, duct tape, and other recyclables. Yes that’s right, our everyday trash will be magically transformed into high fashion and showcased on the runway!

These “trashy” new fashion designs will be critiqued by a panel of judges who will award a prize to the best model/designer combo.

Included in this year’s list of designers is season 8 Project Runway contestant and St. Louis native, AJ Thouvenot, participating as both as a designer and a judge.

The Gala benefits The Salvation Army’s homeless prevention and hunger initiative in St. Louis. Last year, sponsors raised$19,762 from ticket sales for The Salvation Army’s homeless services.

In 2012 alone, The Salvation Army provided more than 10.6 million nights of shelter and served nearly 59 million meals to the needy.

Tickets are still available. For more information about attending this event, please click here.
