"Hungry" is no way to spend childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

Each night in the U.S., 17.4 million families go to bed hungry.

An additional 6.9 million families experience very low food security. That means they don't always know where their next meal is coming from.

How we help cure hunger

To receive the following services, please enter through the front door on Callon Street, and exit through the rear door.  A staff member will be available to assist and direct you.

Food Pantry

Our Food Pantry is open daily as listed below. Clients can use the food pantry one time within a 3-week period.

Food Pantry Hours:

  • Mondays & Thursdays         10:30-2:30 p.m. at 202 Callon Street, Wausau, Wisconsin

Clients need identification for all household members and proof of residency in Marathon County. The amount of food received depends upon the number of people living in the household. A household may use the Food Pantry service every 21 days.

Bring with you:

  • Photo ID for all adults / social security cards for the entire household (for adults without ID cards, and children)
  • Proof of address
  • Proof of income for the last 30 days

Our food pantry is unique because clients are able to shop the pantry and pick out the items they would like from each food group. This gives individuals the freedom to choose what they need.

The pantry is stocked with donations from food drives, businesses, and individuals.

Bread and Produce Distribution
Helps families with fresh produce, bread, or other items when available. These items could include meat, milk, dairy products, etc. This service may be accessed daily (Monday through Friday) as supplies last. There is no limit at this time to the number of days a week individuals may come in, as what is available varies depending upon donations received. A limit of one visit per day, however, is enforced.

These items are available Monday through Friday, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as supplies last. Masks are suggested.

Feeding Program
In-person lunches are served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and carry-out lunches are served from 12:00 to 12:30 for anyone in the community needing a nutritious meal.
