"Hungry" is no way to spend childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

Here in Michigan, one out of six children face food insecurity.

The Salvation Army works to ensure that every member of our community has the food they need to thrive. If you face hunger, we want you to know that you are not alone.

How we help cure hunger

'Lunch Bunch' Meal Program

This lunch program offers a free meal three times a week,  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 am till 12:30 pm. All food is served in to-go containers and only 1 family member needs to be present to pick-up meals for the entire family.  The fun, food and fellowship of this program is contagious and those who attend find support, faith in action, and a meaningful experience.  Many who attend can find not only a meal, but also hope restored.

"For I was hungry, and you fed me.  I was thirsty and you gave me drink.  I was a stranger and you welcomed me in"  (Matthew 25:35).

Food Pantry

Through the grace of God and the generosity of others in our community, we are able to offer grocery assistance to those in need.  Recipients receive approximately a week's worth of groceries, based on the number of persons in their household.  We are able to offer such assistance with at least 90 days between each visit as a general rule.

To receive assistance recipients must reside in our service area (Southeast Berrien County and all of Cass County and follow the below instructions:

Come to our offices at The Salvation Army between 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Mondays and Fridays, or 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The Food Pantry is closed on Wednesdays.

Phone the office at (269) 684-2660 upon arrival.  You will need a valid, state issued picture id for the head of household (Michigan driver's license, passport, greencard, government issued ID, etc.)  and a Birth Certificate, Medicaid/Insurance  card, government issued ID, or last 4 numbers of a Social Security card, etc. You will also need to know the amount of income for everyone living in the household.
